On January 24, 2023, Lindsay Clancy strangled her three children, five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson, and eight-month-old Callan, at the family's home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, United States. She then attempted suicide by cutting her wrists and neck and jumping from a second-story window, sustaining injuries that left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Between 29 August and 1 September 1973, Roger Mallinson and Roger Chapman were successfully rescued 150 miles (240 kilometres) from Ireland in the Celtic Sea, after their Vickers Oceanics submersible, Pisces III, became trapped on the seabed at a depth of 1,575 feet (480 metres).
