The First Order is an interstellar faction of the fictional universe of Star Wars, inspired by the Galactic Empire. As a direct reaction to the fall of the Galactic Empire, the First Order was created to fight against the Resistance for control of the galaxy. The First Order was first featured in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which also includes allusions to the group's origins.
