One definition is an act of public firearm violence—excluding gang killings, domestic violence, or terrorist acts sponsored by an organization—in which a shooter kills at least four victims.
A mass shooting was carried out in Dayton, Ohio, United States, on August 4, 2019, at 1:05 a. m. EDT. Ten people were killed, including the perpetrator, and 27 others were injured (14 of the injured were injured by gunfire). The gunman was killed by police within 30 seconds of the first shots being fired. A search of the suspected shooter's home found writings that showed interest in killing people.
