India is competing at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It is India's 18th appearance at the Commonwealth Games. In July 2022, the Indian team of 106 men and 104 women competing in 16 sports was named.

In June and July 2018, a junior association football team was rescued from the Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai Province in northern Thailand. India won 101 medals in total, including 38 Gold medals, enabling it to finish the Games at second position behind Australia. For the first time in the history of the Games India won over 100 medals in total.

India participated in the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom held from 23 July to 3 August 2014. India fielded a strong 215 member contingent, which is third largest. The sports ministry cleared the 215 athletes from 14 sporting disciplines, including seven para-athletes, at government cost, along with a contingent of 90 officials, coaches and support staff.
