Pope Leo XIV (born Robert Francis Prevost; September 14, 1955) is the current head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State. Elected during the papal conclave on May 8, 2025, following the death and funeral of Pope Francis, he chose the papal name Leo XIV. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Prevost dedicated his early clerical career to the Order of Saint Augustine.
